NOMI, the Neurally Operated Musical Instrument, is an application that lets users create and modify music through brain activity monitoring. The program reads real time EEG data from compatible headsets and interprets the user’s mental state to dynamically layer musical elements.
The system analyzes brain waves to determine whether a user is in a relaxed or concentrated state, then progressively blends multiple music channels based on that classification. As mental focus increases, additional audio layers are introduced until full concentration results in all channels playing together. This approach lets musicians and enthusiasts compose music intuitively using their own neural patterns.
