March 2022 - June 2022
Maestro is an ensemble of video games developed from the ground up to teach computer game development fundamentals. The coursework takes a progressive path through game design and implementation, starting with foundational concepts and building toward increasingly sophisticated projects.
The curriculum is hands on. It begins with baseline projects like Breakout and Joust, then advances through collision detection, flocking algorithms, finite state machines, and pathfinding with A star search. The capstone involves creating original games while integrating an overarching menu system called MAESTRO that unifies the individual game projects into one experience.
